Our Company History
The Production House is a division of RAPP, the UK’s leading provider of data-driven marketing solutions.
1970’s
We started life as ‘Data Transfer International’ (DTI).
Founded in the 1970’s, it was one of the first businesses in the UK
to recognize and service the need for (manual) name and address
processing. This software would eventually become RAPP’s
industry recognized ‘NAMES’ product.
Within DTI, it was soon recognized that there was a requirement
for a print and production / mailing service to meet the needs of
clients. To meet this need, ‘Printronic’ was formed and formed the
production arm of DTI.
1980’s
In 1986 DTI was sold to WWAV. At this time, WWAV already had
its own fledgling bureau in Bristol called ‘WWAV Computing’ which it
merged with DTI to create ‘The Computing Group’ (TCG).
WWAV had its own version of a Print / Production business,
called Hooton Schofield. Eventually Printronic and Hooton Schofield
were merged to become ‘The Production House’, a division of TCG.
1990’s
TCG remained a 100% subsidiary of WWAV until 1993 when WWAV
was acquired by US strategic holding company, Omnicom.
WWAV was renamed ‘WWAV Rapp Collins’, and became part of the DAS
group within Omnicom. TCG’s ‘parent’ therefore became Omnicom.
The Noughties
In March 2002 the decision was taken to change the company name
from ‘The Computing Group’, to ‘Identex’.
Three distinct divisions were formed, which between them provide a
360 degree direct marketing service:
- TPH (The Production House) specialises in direct mail, laser printing, production and fulfilment
- CRM specialises in CRM solutions, data management, insight and analytics
- IQM specialises in name and address management software
2008
Identex Ltd becomes RAPP Ltd in a re-brand that brings it under the
same banner as its former parent company, WWAV Rapp Collins.
All 53 companies in the WRC Group consolidate under the single
global brand name RAPP. The Production House becomes a
division of RAPP.
